Saw the light of the first release of Linux-distro Mageia - under which an independent community of enthusiasts is developing a fork of the project Mandriva. Issue Mageia 1.0 yavletsya not as innovative as the expected release of Mandriva 2011 - it just continues the development package base Mandriva 2010.1 and the all the differences mostly limited to correcting errors, changing your desktop, improving localization and upgrade versions.
Available for download 32 - and 64 - bit DVD-assembly (4 GB), the universal CD-build (700 MB), a minimalist way for network installation (40 MB) and a LiveCD based on GNOME and KDE, with different sets of localization. Distribution supports seamless upgrade from releases of Mandriva Linux 2010.1 and 2010.2. In the base system on the DVD is about 1800 packets of the repository providing support to approximately 6,100 SRPM-packages.

Linux-kernel 2.6.38.7, desktop environments KDE 4.6.3, XFCE 4.8.1 and GNOME 2.32, X server 1.10.1, web browsers, Firefox 4.0.1 and Chromium 11, an office suite LibreOffice 3.3.2, a client for instant messaging Pidgin 2.7.11, e-mail client Thunderbird 3.1.10, WINE 1.3.20, VirtualBox 4.0.6, Inkscape 0.48.1, Blender 2.49b. Of the used base GNOME applications mentioned Totem, Rhythmbox, Epiphany, Evolution, The GNOME Archiver (file-roller), Evince and F-Spot. From KDE applications using KMail, Calligra (fork KOffice), KmyMoney 4.5.3, Skrooge 0.8.1, Kopete 4.6.3, KVIrc 4.0.4, QuteCom 2.2.
